Iranian Authorities and its ministry have accepted cryptocurrency mining as an industry

As per the reports from IBENA, a local news agency, on September 4th the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme Cyberspace Council announced that Iran’s government and various ministries have accepted mining of cryptocurrency as an industry. The official legislation in the country who form the legal framework for the industry has not yet introduced it in the country.

Iran’s major authorities have accepted cryptocurrency mining as an industry, as per the statement from Firoozabadi. The authorities that accepted cryptocurrency mining are the Central Bank, the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance as well as the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade.

There is a platform being developed for cryptocurrency mining regulation by the Iranian National Cyberspace Center as per the statement from Firoozabadi. The Iranian government is also planning to launch a national cryptocurrency, he added.

There would be an introduction in late September of a regulatory framework for the relevant authorities for startups in the cryptocurrency and blockchain space.



After the instructions in late August from Hassan Rouhani, President of Iran, Iran’s National Cyberspace Center revealed that a draft for the state-backed cryptocurrency is ready.
